Why We Built Greenboard
Posted by Greenboard Team | April 20, 2025

If you’ve bought a car in recent years, you’re probably familiar with the experience: you sit down at a dealership, and the salesperson meticulously takes down your details. After the meeting, you get follow-ups—via phone, email, and often even automated messages through one of their CRM systems. The process is seamless, professional, and most importantly, persistent.
Now, think about the last time you walked into a furniture store. Furniture is usually the second or third biggest expense in most people’s lives—after a house, and maybe a really nice car if you’re into that. And yet, this kind of follow-up and lead management is almost non-existent in the furniture industry.
We found ourselves asking: why?
So, we decided to test it ourselves. We started treating every lead—from our in-store visitors to our e-commerce traffic—with the same care and follow-up strategy that a car dealership might use. We followed up manually. We followed up automatically. We used emails, phone calls, texts—whatever it took. And it worked. Really well.
And it worked. Really well.
What if we make it into a software?
We used the system for ourselves—capturing leads, turning them into clients, and then continuing to follow up to turn those clients into repeat customers. Over the years, this system evolved into something much bigger. It was perfected and tweaked to meet the real-world needs of our entire operation: the sales team, customer support, even the delivery company we partner with. What started as a private little tool quietly powering our own business started getting noticed through word of mouth. Other store owners began asking if they could use it too—and we onboarded them, gladly, because out of the staggering $310 billion per year furniture industry in North America, we believe a much bigger share can and should go to private retailers, not just the giant conglomerates.

That’s how Greenboard was born.
Greenboard is a centralized platform built specifically for the furniture industry. It gives you all the tools, integrations, and flexibility to communicate with your customers—emails, SMS, phone calls—and plug into your favorite marketing tools like Attentive or Klaviyo. But more importantly, it brings all of that communication into one place so your team can see what’s working, what’s not, and where each client is in the sales process.
Greenboard isn’t just software—it’s how we run our business. And now, it’s how you can run yours, too.
